MAY MCLE LUNCHEON / ZOOM WEBINAR
California Civility MCLE requirements can be satisfied through the Tulare County Bar Association’s May Mandatory Continuing Legal Education program, “Civility in the Legal Profession,” on Thursday, May 21, 2026. This program provides California attorneys with the opportunity to complete the State Bar’s required civility credit, which must be fulfilled every three years.
This one‑hour program will be offered as both an in‑person luncheon and a Zoom webinar.

Civility is more than courtesy; it is a strategic advantage in legal practice. This program explores why civility matters and how it shapes effective advocacy, client relationships, and professional credibility. The presentation will examine expectations for civil conduct in legal practice, including client interactions, communications with opposing counsel, and participation in judicial and administrative proceedings. The program will also address how communication style and implicit bias can influence tone, perception, and outcomes. Attendees will gain practical insights to elevate professionalism in every setting.
MCLE Compliance Requirement
Attorneys licensed in California are required to complete Minimum Continuing Legal Education as part of their ongoing compliance with State Bar requirements. This includes completion of specialty credits, such as civility, within applicable compliance periods. This program offers a timely opportunity for attorneys to complete the required civility MCLE credit through a structured presentation addressing professionalism and conduct within the legal profession.
This activity has been approved for one (1) hour of Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit in Civility by the State Bar of California.
Completion of this program satisfies the California State Bar’s civility MCLE requirement, which attorneys must complete as part of their ongoing compliance obligations.
The program is presented by the Tulare County Bar Association (TCBA). TCBA is certified by the State Bar of California as a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Provider (Provider #1087) and certifies that this activity conforms to the standards for approved education activities prescribed by the rules and regulations governing MCLE.

Speaker Biography
Shelline Bennett
Shelline Bennett is a Partner at Liebert Cassidy Whitmore with more than 30 years of experience advising and representing management in all areas of labor and employment law. She has an extensive background in litigation, administrative proceedings, and labor negotiations, and regularly counsels public agencies, nonprofits, and private employers.
Ms. Bennett also plays a leadership role in the firm’s investigation practice and is an Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Certificate Holder. She frequently conducts training on workplace investigations and employment law issues.
